Our Terms and Conditions

If you have something to sell with us it is important that you understand how we operate and agree to our simple terms and conditions as outlined.

  • All clothing and accessories need to be appropriate to the current season. We accept new stock Tuesday – Friday 11am-3pm via appointment only
    – Booking in for Spring/Summer between February-June
    – Booking in for Autumn/Winter between September-November
  • All clothing should be cleaned and ready to wear. Shoes should be either unworn or gently worn
  • All clothing and accessories must be no more than 3 years old
  • We only accept items from quality high street to designer labels. We do not accept clothing from M&S (except Cashmere), Next, Roman etc.
  • The selling price is set by The Smart Exchange
  • We sell on your behalf on a 50% commission basis less 10% (VAT) e.g. if we sell an item for £100 then you would receive a sales commission of £45
  • Payments are made direct to the client via cheque on production of the booking in receipt provided and must be collected within 6 months of the specified collection date on your booking in receipt or it will be void
  • A £2.00 fee is charged to post commission cheques
  • Clothing will be displayed for 6 weeks at the agreed price. If an item remains unsold after that time, then we may progressively reduce the original selling price for the final 2 weeks then remove from sale ready for return or donation
  • Special occasion wear for example Mother of the Bride/Groom outfits are displayed for 12 weeks or by agreement and it is the client’s responsibility to check with us on a minimum of a monthly basis as to the progress of sale
  • Unsold items must be collected within a week of the collection date indicated on your booking in receipt or will be donated to Midland Air Ambulance
  • Clients need to contact us to check if garments have been sold during the agreed selling period. The Smart Exchange do not notify you of items sold
  • Your personal details will never be shared with a third party and we may contact you via email occasionally
  • We take great care to look after our stock whilst on our premises, but garments are left entirely at the owner’s risk
  • Please be aware all uncollected timed out items will be donated to our chosen charity which is Midlands Air Ambulance
